Appearance: A handsome boi History: wiki Personality: It would be forgivable if someone thought Wei Wuxian didn't know how to take life seriously. Instead, he seems free and unbound by rules but also very immature. To the horror of his poor brother, he doesn't seem capable of being serious even in the most serious situations. Even when in the presence of the most esteemed of Sect leaders, he's unable to pay attention in class, and easily finds himself bored. In order to combat the boredom, he isn't above playing pranks instead of being respectful. Lan Zhan is a prime target for his boundless energy and a very good example of how little he cares for prestige. Despite Lan Zhan and his family being highly revered, Wei Wuxian cares more for their endless rules and stoic nature, silently promising he'd get more reactions from him, going so far as to replace his reading materials with pornography. He's also more willing to accept punishment than to follow the rules in the first place. Wei Wuxian is both flirtatious and easy with words. This can have both positive and negative effects. On the brighter side, he makes friends easily and is well liked by anyone who doesn't need him to behave. It also helps him flirt his way into a room in the first episode of the flashback, even if they later lose it. It seems like he can brighten most situations. However, he flirts a bit too easily, as pointed out by Lan Zhan who later admonishes him for it by stating he shouldn't say those kinds of things without meaning it. This may be because of how easily Wei Wuxian was in touching him, waving at him, smiling at him, and other gestures that could be construed as being flirtatious. Because he was adopted into a notable sect as opposed to being born into one, titles and positions mean nothing to him so he doesn't feel like those of 'lower' rank should be treated differently. The easy attitude can also be negative in other ways. Wei Wuxian is often disrespectful. Instead of following the rules that have been in place long before him, he's willing to bend and even break them no matter the costs to himself. While this is most certainly bold, his tactics are often less than tactful. Wei Wuxian is a very skilled cultivator, and he knows it. It bred a very arrogant nature. When combining the two, along with a small inability to control his emotions, his anger even has him addressing multiple sect leaders and telling them that no one could stop him, even if they wanted to, even before the fatal encounter that ended his life. It's these very traits that incite small incidents such as his willingness to physically fight Jin Zixuan over insulting Wei Wuxian's sister, but they also create a much bigger incident when they are manipulated in order to make Wei Wuxian the hated man that he is. Even when he tries to follow the rules, he often can't help himself. After promising Jiang Cheng he'd behave, he can't help but show up the competition by shooting multiple arrows while blindfolded and have them all hit the target. Shortly after, he gets into the previously mentioned fight with Jin Zixuan. Despite all of that, Wei Wuxian is both intelligent and observant. He ends up foiling several plots, including the overreaching mystery of just who was framing him, but we see hints of this even when he was younger, and they were trying to hide the existence of the Yin Metal. He's also exceptionally creative with the ability to think outside of the box. When he gives his Golden Core (the source of their power) to his brother, a secondary reason is that he knows he'll figure out a way to keep fighting even without it (also another example of his arrogance). This extends beyond ideas no one has considered: he's also willing to challenge the norms of things that people have forbidden, such as the use of demonic cultivation. When he loses his golden core, this is the path he takes in order to keep some semblance of power. Above and beyond anything, he cares about the weak, the innocent, and those close to him. Examples are littered throughout canon and it often triggers the anger he controls so badly as well as a hero complex that really is almost masochistic. We see him defend people from the Qishan Wen Sect even when it results in being branded and protect Juniors who have only been hostile to him. The biggest example is with the remaining Qishan Wen Sect members. He disagrees with the treatment of the Wen family members after their sect lost the war. Refusing to stand by and allow them to be mistreated, he takes on the entire cultivation world to keep them safe. Their murder eventually leads to the faithful confrontation that sees Wei Wuxian fighting all the major sects, including his former family (notably, he didn't attack that actual sect). Small notes: he's horrible with animals, terrified of dogs, and can't cook. A real winner. Powers and Abilities: Archery; he's skilled enough to shoot multiple arrows at once and have them all hit their target Empathy; this ability lets him see into the memories of the dead Paper Metamorphosis; he can place is soul into a paper doll that he then controls. Chenqing; using his flute, he's able to do various things, including creating dark clouds of smoke that can attack and control the dead. He can also do this with other flutes. Using just his whistle, he can control a fierce corpse. Talismans; using his blood, he can create talismans that do various things. Since 'various things' is vague, I'll say that he can use these to block doors and when placed on an object, become too heavy to lift for the average human. Neither of these will work on Duplicity officials. High jumps/gliding; even without his golden core, Wei Wuxian is capable of jumping higher than a normal human, gliding, and landing safely from higher distances.
